In this step-by-step, fancy, half-up, half-down, ponytail hair tutorial video, I'm going to show you how to do an elegant, and yet relaxed, fancy updo hairstyle - with voluminous curls, on yourself, for short, medium, or long hair.
Cute hairstyles like these are suitable as a wedding hair, bridal hair, bridesmaids hair, perfect for formal occasions; the prom, homecoming. You can also wear this hair style casually to a date, to Christmas, and New Year's eve parties, for school, or for work.
If you're fond of long hairstyles, the poofy ponytails will look great as school hairstyles.

First, if you have straight hair, curl the back of your head with a curling iron or a flat iron. If your hair is naturally curly, you can skip the curling part for this.
For a formal, fancy party, a wedding, prom, or for a bridal occasion, use a 1" curling iron. For an everyday hairstyle, for school, or even for a casual holiday party- Christmas and New Year's eve, use a 2" curling iron to create loose waves instead of tight curls.
After curling your hair, make a mid-ponytail. Mid ponytails are tied directly above the ears.
With all the hair left out of the ponytail, we're going to curl it, section by section, before pinning it on top of the ponytail, to create a curly, half-up, half-down hairstyle.
Make sure to alternate sides to create an intricate, crisscross appearance to your fancy updo. When you no longer have hair left to curl, you can wear it like that - as a curly, holiday half-updo - or gather all the hair, into a ponytail to be worn as a voluminous, retro ponytail with curls. If your ponytails is looking droopy, you can either use a hair padding to create more body or volume, or use a hair clamp. You can buy either on Amazon or on eBay for less than a dollar.
